Casting Needs: 7 Men and 5 Women plus additional ensemble members.

Synopsis: Middle-aged baseball fanatic Joe Boyd sells his soul to the devil, Mr.
Applegate, for "one good long-ball hitter" for his team, the Washington Senators.
Applegate grants his wish, turning him into a 22-year-old sports superstar who must
go back to his wife before 9 p.m. on the final game day if he doesn't want Applegate
to get his soul. This Tony Award-winning musical comedy from 1956 includes the
songs “You Gotta Have Heart” and “Whatever Lola Wants.”

Auditioners should come prepared to sing 16 measures of an audition song with
piano accompaniment or CD accompaniment. No unaccompanied singing. A
pianist will be supplied. Come prepared to dance. Everyone will be asked to read
from the script and some may be asked to sing from the libretto. Men cast as
baseball players will be asked to purchase black dance shoes.
